A burst of late-summer warmth, the round Black-Eyed Susan is the collection’s most radiant guest. While the petals provide a crown of brilliant amber and gold, our watercolor interpretation focuses on the velvety, chocolate-brown “eye” at the center—a perfect, grounding circle that anchors the flower’s energy. We’ve used textured, concentrated pigments to capture the sun-drenched vibrancy of the petals, bleeding into soft, rounded edges that feel approachable and bright. They are a reminder of golden-hour light and open fields, designed to bring a sense of cozy optimism to the Herbarium palette.  

The round Astilbe adds a touch of whimsical texture to the collection, moving away from flat petals toward a soft, cloud-like form. In our watercolor painting, we’ve reimagined the classic feathery spire into a more compact, rounded cluster—a “pom-pom” of delicate, frothy blooms. We used a “dry brush” technique to mimic the thousands of tiny, crystalline flowers that give the Astilbe its signature fuzzy appearance in shades of dusty rose and antique cream. It is the softest print in the Herbarium archive, perfectly mirroring the plush, touchable fabrics that define our most comfortable t-shirts.
